Children's book generator: thirty why-questions, answered with a picture
This children's book generator makes the book a curious child keeps asking for: "why is the sky blue?", "where do birds sleep?", answered one question per page with a picture. You give one sentence, pick the age band and the art style, and approve the list of questions before anything is written.
| What you get | Detail |
|---|---|
| Length | About 30 questions in 4 to 7 themes of 4 to 6 questions each |
| Each page | The question, a clear answer at the right level for the age band, a "did you know" fact, and a picture |
| Age bands | Ages 3 to 5, 5 to 8 or 8 to 12: the length of the answers and the vocabulary follow the band |
| Pictures | One art style for the whole book (soft watercolor, bright flat colors or colored pencils) and one recurring child, so the pictures read as one book; up to 60 created pictures per book, or your own |
| Safety | No questions about death, violence, illness or anything frightening; every fact simplified but never false |
| Paperback interior at 8.5 x 11 in by default and a full wraparound cover for KDP | |
| Files | PDF, EPUB, DOCX and the cover image |
| Price | Free to write, chapter 1 free to read; pay per book to unlock. No subscription. |
Who makes children's books here
- Parents and grandparents: a book built around the questions their child asks at bedtime.
- Teachers and librarians: a themed book for a class topic, read aloud one question at a time.
- Self-publishers on KDP: a series of question books by theme (the ocean, the body, space) for the 3 to 8 market.
What the generator does with your sentence
- A plan of themes, each with the questions a child would really ask. You rename, swap or delete questions before anything is written.
- Each theme is written with the earlier answers in mind, so no fact is told twice.
- Every answer is checked: the first sentence answers the question, the facts are correct, nothing could frighten a child.
- A picture is made for each question in the art style you chose, with the same child in every picture.
An example plan
Sentence in: "Why questions about the sea for a 6-year-old." Plan out:
- Water and waves: why is the sea salty? Why are there waves? Why is the sea blue?
- Animals of the sea: how do fish breathe? Why do whales sing? Do octopuses really have three hearts?
- The beach: where does sand come from? Why do shells make a sound?
- Deep down: is it dark at the bottom of the sea? What lives where no light reaches?
Publishing it
Children's books sell best in print. Download the 8.5 x 11 interior and the full cover sized for your page count and upload both to KDP as a paperback; the EPUB covers the Kindle edition. Read every answer once before you publish, as you would for any children's book.
Frequently asked questions
Can it write a picture storybook?
Not this format: it makes question-and-answer books, one question per page with a picture. For a story, the short novel format writes fiction with a plot and characters.
Which ages is it for?
Three bands: 3 to 5, 5 to 8 and 8 to 12. The length of each answer and the words used follow the band you pick.
Are the facts correct?
Each answer is checked for accuracy and simplified without becoming false. Read the book once before publishing, as an editor would.
Can I sell it?
Yes, with full commercial rights. The print files are made for KDP paperbacks; the EPUB and the PDF sell anywhere else.
