What makes a good dinosaur coloring book
Pick species a child can name, then add two or three obscure ones for variety. Twelve near-identical sauropods is a weak book; a T. rex, a stegosaurus, a pteranodon, an ankylosaurus and a parasaurolophus give five different shapes to color.
- One animal per page, filling most of the page. Group scenes read as clutter once the lines are black and white.
- Line weight: thick for the body outline, thinner inside for scales and plates. If the inside lines are as heavy as the outline, the drawing goes muddy.
- White space: leave the sky and the ground mostly open. Children color the dinosaur first, and an empty background is a place for them to invent.

Will the black areas eat my printer ink?
No. The line art is outlines on white, with no solid black fills and no grey. A home printer handles a full book without drinking a cartridge.
