Recipe book: about thirty recipes, laid out like a real cookbook

By the create-ebook team · Updated 2026-10-01

A recipe book is not a guide with recipes pasted in. Every recipe needs the same frame (servings, times, quantities, steps a beginner can follow) and the reader flips to it from an index, standing in the kitchen. This format creates a recipe book that way: a basics chapter, five or so sections of recipes, one recipe per printed page, and a closing chapter on menus and fixing what goes wrong.

Who creates recipe books here

  • Home cooks with a family repertoire: the dishes everyone asks for, finally written down with quantities.
  • Food bloggers and Instagram cooks: a printed book of the recipes your followers save.
  • Caterers, cooking teachers and nutritionists: a book to sell after a class or hand to clients.
  • Self-publishers: a themed cookbook (a cuisine, a diet, a season) for Amazon, in print and ebook.

What the pipeline does with your sentence

  1. A plan with a basics chapter, sections of six dish names each and a closing chapter. You rename, swap or delete dishes before anything is written.
  2. Each section is written with the recipes already done in mind, so the book does not hold two tomato sauces.
  3. Every recipe is checked: enough ingredients, quantities given, at least two steps. A recipe that fails is rewritten.
  4. Then you add pictures where you want them, and export the ebook or the print files.

An example plan

Sentence in: “Easy French classics for a home kitchen.” Plan out:

  1. The French basics at home: pantry, tools, the five techniques
  2. Starters and soups: French onion soup, leeks vinaigrette, warm goat cheese salad…
  3. Fish, eggs and vegetables: salmon with tarragon, spinach quiche…
  4. Chicken, meat and stews: coq au vin, beef bourguignon…
  5. Bakes and potatoes: croque monsieur, hachis parmentier…
  6. Desserts: tarte tatin, chocolate mousse, crème brûlée…
  7. Menus and fixing what went wrong

Printing it

Cookbooks sell better on paper than as ebooks. Choose the trim size (7x10 is common for cookbooks), download the interior and the full cover sized for your page count, and upload both to KDP as a paperback. The recipe pictures print at the resolution KDP asks for.

Frequently asked questions

How many recipes are there?

About 30, in sections of six. You can add or remove dishes in the plan before the book is written.

Are the quantities reliable?

They are written for the number of servings and checked for completeness, but cook each recipe once before you publish: your oven, your pans and your taste are the final test.

Can I use my own photos?

Yes. Every recipe has a picture slot: upload your photo, or have one created. Your own photos are unlimited; created pictures go up to 60 per book.

Can I print and sell it?

Yes, with full commercial rights. The print files are made for KDP paperbacks; the EPUB and the PDF sell anywhere else.
